Week 72: October 9, 2017: Things are good here!

The week started out with exchanges! I was here in KC1/YSA with Sister Murphy and that was so great! We had a lesson that morning with a new investigator named O. Sister Murphy was really good at loving her and making her feel comfortable. She has such a strong testimony and is a powerful missionary. Then, we felt prompted to try another potential that was referred to us from the Raytown sisters. We went and when we knocked on the door but nobody was home. So we walked away, talked to the neighbor for a second and as we were getting into our car, he walked up to his house from the next street over! We ran over and talked to him and he is so prepared! I’m so grateful for the Lords guidance so that we can be in the right place at the right time.

We had a lesson with a lady named A and she is doing great! Her husband is in the Air Force and is in Germany right now. We taught her a little lesson and did some service for her! She has the cutest little girl named R and is pregnant with her second. She is an underwater photographer and literally the coolest person ever. Her husband is already Christian and getting baptized when he gets home from Germany and she literally grew up nothing about God so we are teaching her separate so she can understand better. But she is progressing really well!

Sister B got sick mid afternoon on Wednesday so we didn't get to do a whole bunch on both Wednesday or Thursday. Luckily Thursday is weekly planning day so we were going to be inside for most the day anyways. She couldn't even really walk to the bathroom without feeling like she was going to pass out. So she slept a lot and I studied a lot haha. It ended up being a really good day though!

This week, the sister that usually texts us about our dinners for the week accidentally told us the wrong family for one of the nights. So we contacted the family she told us (the Andersons) and they said it wasn’t them. But there is another family in our ward named Andersen so we thought that it could be them. It wasn’t them either but both families offered to feed us. We ended up choosing the Andersen’s and it was incredible. Turns out they are less active but want to come back!! We had a really good conversation with them! We all kinda talked about conversion stories and such. Bro Andersen brought up a good point that we will always be working to become more converted to the gospel. He said that its like a stock market graph (which I know barely anything about) but I do know that it is constantly changing. He said that every day we have to make the conscious decision to be a disciple of Christ and remind ourselves why we are doing it. Which made me think of Elder Bednar's talk from this conference when he said something like "don't forget where you are going and why you are running". We have to keep the eternal perspective. So cool. What made the night even better is that they want us to start teaching them lessons and stuff to help them get active and they invited us to do an FHE with some of their non member friends!! Then, at the end they were literally homies and basically sent us home with a Costco in our backseat ❤️ I love them so much! They fed us on Wednesday and then we had dinner with the AndersEn's again on Thursday (they really want to make sure you know that it's spelled with an e...). They are so fun! Literally had we not had the giant mix-up with which Anderson/Andersen we were supposed to eat with, we probably wouldn't have met them.

Y and D are doing great! S (Y's daughter) is now living with her aunt so we aren’t currently working with her anymore but we are going to try and set her up with missionaries there. Y and D are finally reading in the Book of Mormon!!! We read a Mosiah 4 with her the other day and she absolutely loved it! In the middle of reading it, she was like “oohhh this is juicy, I love it!” Haha

We had a great lesson with M this week too and she finally opened up to us about why she hasn’t been attending church. She said that she is just having a hard time leaving her friends at her old church because she feels like she is abandoning them. She shared her testimony of the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith with us. She said she knows she needs to be in the LDS church but she is just having a hard time taking that leap of faith. We fasted with her yesterday. The churches are at the same time so we feel that we may have her start coming every other sunday and really pray and fast that she will be able to notice the spirit more abundantly as she attends our church.

C B came to church this sunday and loved it! The lesson in gospel principles was on the Sabbath day and I think that was perfect for her. She commented in the lessons and everything. She has been reading in the Book of Mormon and keeping commitments!

Things are so good here! Thanks so much for the package mom! I loved it! And dad, I hope that you had a great birthday! I love and miss you so much. You are such a great example to me! I’m glad that you all had a great week!

Love you!
These pics are from the 2 nights that we ate with the Andersen’s and
all the food that they gave us! People are so sweet!

S had his birthday on Sunday so this was his birthday hat lol
(S is just a member of the YSA that is preparing to serve a
mission)
We had a BBQ as a zone today in a Members backyard and then played flag football and other sports.
