Week 70: September 26:...went pretty well...still slightly terrifying though!

Hey Fam!

So the lesson with Al went super well! We talked about the Plan of Salvation and Bro Ellis was literally the best team up ever. We had little cutouts and went through each part with her. She loved it! And is literally the cutest. We have another lesson with her tonight so I will try and take a picture with her for ya.

Well, Wednesday was jam packed with stuff to do and it was so fun. We started out the day with a solid adventure run. Oh how much I love and have missed running. We then came back and did studies and such before district meeting. District meeting was so good though. Sister Bench gave a training on listening and discerning. I realized that I could definitely do a better job about that. She had us reflect on a time when someone REALLY listened to us and how that made us feel. What did that person do? How can we emulate that? She talked about how discerning is more than just following the spirit but using different teaching tools as well. We have to actively be listening, asking inspired questions, not be afraid of silence, etc. So good. Elder Crane gave a training on Charity. Charity is something that I have been trying to work on a lot lately. I feel like it is something we will always have to work to develop but literally we are useless without it. We read in 1 Corinthians 13 about that and talked about how we can develop more charity. It was something I needed to hear.

We had a lesson with T (a recent convert) at his work (McDonalds)! He is really sweet and was already starting to do lots of missionary work! He introduced us to his boss and a couple other of his work friends and one of them may be coming to the YSA activity in independence on Saturday! Literally the coolest. He even bought us ice cream. We had a lesson with a girl named T today too! She is another recent convert that will begin to attend YSA soon. She was worried about not having friends so we went out to ice cream at Betty Rae's with another girl from the ward that we felt prompted to take. Her name is H. Turns out they are like perfect for each other. It was so fun! Plus, it was like the BEST ice cream I have ever had.

Thursday during the day was a bit rough...we did studies in the morning and then had lunch and went right into weekly planning. Weekly planning in great because it sets you up for success in the next week but it also takes soooo looong... Sister Bench and I couldn't stand to be in our apartment so we drove to the church and planned there for a little and then came back to finish. But we made some really good meals and snacks to keep us going so it was okay👌

Friday we had exchanges with the Lee's Summit 3rd sisters! I went with Sister Payne to her area and Sister Bench stayed here with Sister Stubor. It went really well! They didn't have any appointments set up in their area so we did a lot of finding! We were able to find a couple people that were interested and set up a couple return appointments! We did end up getting to have a lesson with a super cute recent convert named B!

Oh and General Conference is this weekend!! Literally can't wait. The women's session was incredible so I can't wait to see what else is coming our way! In our YSA ward on sunday the Bishop stood up and shared a quote about General Conference that I loved. Paraphrasing, he said: "The prophets see ahead- but they also see the grand possibilities that wait ahead as we listen with the intent to obey". The pretty much sums it all up. I know that as we prepare and listen with the intent to obey, we will receive guidance and great blessings!

Also, in the fun life of a missionary, I got a call late Saturday and was asked to give a talk the next day in Sacrament meeting. I'm just counting my blessings I got notified before we were already at church. It was on personal progression and went pretty well...still slightly terrifying though lol

I hope that you all had a great week! I love and miss you all!

Week 69: September 18: Went to the temple today!

This week was so good! We went to the temple again this morning so we had to switch our pday to Tuesday.

So on Tuesday night last week we (I) taught a spanish lesson to a recent convert in our ward! And since my companion doesn't speak spanish and I am wayy out of practice, it was a little hard! But I managed and it strengthened my testimony of companions and that it is so important to have comp unity. We have another lesson this evening with her and I hope that it goes well! She is the cutest little thing! She is 12 years old and will be going to the temple for her first time tomorrow!

We had MLC (mission leadership conference) on Wednesday so that took up pretty much the whole day. But we had a really good lesson with a lady named V that evening. We realized that she lived just outside of our boundaries when we got there so we had to transfer her over to some other sisters but hopefully that is going well!

We met a lady named D R on Friday who literally has had one of the hardest lives ever but she is so faithful. I love seeing people turn to God in times of trials. We taught her the restoration and she accepted it really well! Her son is just getting out of prison so she said she will be busy with that...so we cant meet with her for like another week but hopefully she will continue to progress as well!

On Saturday we got to go back to Santa Fe for MARIAS BAPTISM! Sister Farnsworth and I were the ones that started teaching her and she just got baptized. Literally she is like the cutest thing ever and was just so happy and it brought me so much joy! I'll send pictures of that :)

We met with S T on Friday night and, again, one of the hardest lives I have ever heard of. But she is a less active that is trying really hard to come back to church and get active again. She is so sweet!

Sorry that there isn't much detail to this and its just scatterbrained but it was a really good week and we saw tons of miracles!

Week 68: Sept. 11: WELL my jail sentence was short lived.

WELL my jail sentence was short lived. After 1 short transfer, I am back out Full Pros! I am now a Sister Training Leader (STL) in the Kansas City 1st Ward and I am also over the YSA for 3 stakes! I was surprised leave the jail so quickly but man, I am SOO EXCITED about this next transfer! I already love my companion so much! Her name is Sister Bench and she is from American Fork, UT. Oh and she loves to RUN!!! She ran at Weber and our times are literally like the same....so you already know we will be running every morning! We have been and it is seriously so nice. I am so happy.

I love my new wards too! Yesterday was my first sunday at church and it was so awesome. They were all so welcoming. It's interesting going to multiple wards cause we are in church like all day. But the YSA had one of the best Gospel Principles and Relief Society lessons I have ever heard. In GP we just talked about the word of wisdom but she explained it in such a simple way and tied it back to being a "spiritual" law so it was pretty dang good. In RS we talked about knowledge and the teacher, Gabbi, was perfect to talk about that. For part of it, she had us make a list on the board of all of our needs and desires and then talked about how in order to achieve every single one of them, we have to have knowledge. She talked about how the Lord will give us anything we want if we learn about it. I don't remember exactly how she said it but I promise it was good. Basically it was like, knowledge is the key to getting anything we want.

ELDER CHRISTOFFERSON came to our mission on Saturday and it was so good!!! Better than expected. He was so inspired and literally said so many good things. I'll probably send you some of my notes but one of my favorite things was what he said at the end. In his closing remarks, he said: "if the Lord were to look down upon us right now, He wouldnt see a whole group of missionaries. He would see individuals. He knows our struggles and our thoughts and desires individually. In fact, there is nothing about you that He isn't perfectly familiar with. And so, when you pray, you can pray with great faith and confidence that youre talking to someone who knows and loves you and knows how to help you. Don't ever permit the thought to dwell in you that He doesn't love you, or that He doesnt understand. Its not true. It's totally untrue. So turn to Him quite often. And when you go home, turn to Him even more! its not as natural at home as it is as a missionary, and doesn't happen unless you make it happen. But always be aware of the blessing of your missionary service. Sometimes missionaries will go home and think that the Lord owes them. And that makes me sick! You came on this mission in debt of Him, and you leave your mission in greater debt! Because of the overwhelming blessing He's given you."

Enough said... I know that is so true and I am so grateful for this sacred blessing that I have to serve as a missionary in the MIM!

I'll talk more about investigators and such next week :) I am still trying to learn about them myself lol.

I would just like to apologize in advance for how terrible I will be at emailing. Now that I'm back to having Monday pday, pday sports is back...
LOVE YOU ALL LOTS THO ❤️

Week 67: Sept 5: This week was great!!

This week was great!!

We got to do service at the nature sanctuary in Liberty, which was fun! We all got smoothies together and then pretty much just cut plants and moved cardboard...exciting stuff. I did get to hold a snake though. That was pretty cool.

Not too many people were able to meet with us this week so it was a little slow in that way but boy did we see miracles!

A finally started coming back to church! I think that she went out of town for a couple weeks but now she is back and still wants to be baptized next month! So we are working with her and her fiance (who is a member) to get them ready to baptize her!

We had a lesson with V! She talked to her son and he was about ready to fly out this weekend when he heard that she wanted to be baptized! We then explained about the interview and finishing lessons so it couldnt be this weekend (sadly). But we are looking forward to that and are just waiting for the son to have another free weekend for him to fly out from Montana to baptize her!

We have been meeting with M and he is doing great! We were thinking about handing him over to the elders because he had been giving us gifts and is so sweet and we were a little worried about rules since he is a single male. BUT we went out to ice cream and had a lesson with him and the elders yesterday and he was just as sweet to them! We determined that he is just a nice guy lol and that we will continue to teach him! He tries to read the Bible every morning for an hour and then he reads the book of mormon for an hour each night! He is keeping all of his commitments and has started praying! He is awesome!

Some of the members from one of my past wards came to visit me at the jail on sunday! They were so sweet and brought me a purse and wallet! They also took a note to my recent convert (T) who is struggling with health again). She is still going strong though! I got to take them on a tour too! They are so sweet. Mom-this is the Morillos (lucia and angel)

I took a tour yesterday that had Alexander Baugh in it (He is like the most known church historian--all the senior couples are obsessed with him and his books) so that was a little stressful! I was just praying that I wouldn't get the history all wrong. But it was actually really cool having him in there! Cause not only did I have all my history confirmed that it was true but he also taught me more!
Elder Christofferson is coming to our mission this Saturday and Sunday! We are excited about that!
Transfers are this thursday. We find out tonight what will happen. I think that I will stay.

Thats about all that I have time for!
I love and miss you all lots!
